It's time to get ready for your senior session!
How to prep for your senior portrait session with Traci Grandinetti Photography
1. Be BRIGHT + THINK OUTSIDE OF THE BOX: What to wear?!?
On camera, solid black + white can make skin tones look very washed out and unflattering. White dresses are adorable, but alone lack interest. This is where Scarves, hats, cowboy boots, belts, high heels, sunglasses, jewelry and any other accessories help show off your personality as wells as turn something like a cute white dress into something stunning. So, when choosing outfits for your senior session, try to choose colors that POP and that compliment your hair + skin colors! Primary colors like red, royal blue and yellow photograph beautifully as well as emerald green, bright purples, pinks, oranges and any other colors that really POP! Sometimes, color combos that may seem odd in-person end up photographing BEAUTIFULLY on camera!
2. MY HAIR... WHAT TO DO:
Sometimes it's fun to change up your hairstyle just slightly throughout your session. I love this and have some suggestions on how to do this:
- Start with hair down & curled/straight and with each outfit change mix up the hair
- consider a braid or one side pinned back
- then transition to half up/half down

3. NAILS MATTER:
neutral colors are the most flattering and of course no chips in your polish!
4. GROOMING IS A MUST:
Armpits/legs/brows/ beards/hair: make sure you are well groomed before your session
5. TO TAN OR NOT TO TAN:
Spray tans can be problematic. Sometimes spray tans drip, rub off, or turn orange. If you do decide you would like to be tan for your session I recommend doing it the natural way, but please no tan lines. Another thing to be aware of is burning. Try not to burn yourself before your session. Lobster isn't the best look. {Wink Wink}
6. MAKEUP CAN MAKE OR BREAK AN IMAGE:
Whether you have someone do your makeup or you do it yourself there are some things that are important. Makeup has a direct impact on how you appear in your portraits. It's important to get this right. Trust me!
- Matte finish foundation: reduce glare(also make sure it truly matches your skin tone-no ghosts)
- be careful with powder as it can accentuate hair on your face
- No sparkles (especially in your hair- it looks like dandruff)
- false lashes are good just remember the glue
- Bring backup concealer, blush, & lipstick to your session. We will reapply guarantee!
