Preparing for your Child's High School Senior Pictures
As a parent your child's high school senior year can be a bit stressful. It's becoming reality that you have a year before you send your child on their way into the big world. No more drop offs and pick ups at school, no more sports after school and no more making lunches. With so much changing, including your child, it's now time to document this huge milestone.
The thought of high school senior portraits and finding a photographer to fit your needs can be just as stressful as raising an almost 18 year old. Here at Traci Grandinetti Photography we aim to take that stress off your shoulders and make the experience enjoyable, memorable and something you would do again just for the raw fun of it. Senior Portraits are meant to be as important as your child and as important as the last year of high school truly is. Portraits documenting such a huge milestone in your child's life need to capture who they are and who they are becoming. You want to be presented with products that will stand the test of time and be around for your children's children.
Below I've created a parent checklist of things that need to be considered when searching, planning and creating you child's senior portrait experience.
It all starts the beginning of your child's Jr. year:
- Establish a list of photographers you know that specialize in high school seniors portraits here in Spokane for the ultimate experience.
- The summer before Jr. year starts be thinking about what time of year you want the senior portrait session to take place.
- note; this is particularly important for winter portraits as they are typically taken during the winter of Jr. year.
- Come up with a concept with your child of what you would like to capture or document
- example; sports, activities, locations that are important to your child etc.
It's the spring before your child's Senior year:
- Start reaching out to the Spokane high school senior photographers that are on your list and schedule your consultations. Determine what kind of service you want and who will best provide that to you.
- have your ideas/wants for the session together and ready to share with your senior photographer.
- Find a hair/makeup artist to utilize for the session.
- start gathering/purchasing clothing options, shoes and accessories.
The goal of this blog is to help lay out the steps that parents need to take before the big senior session date to eleviate some of the stresses that go along with preparing for your child's senior year.
